Privacy Policy

When you drop an image or video onto FreeUpscaler, the file is processed entirely inside your web browser on your own computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. We do not receive a copy, we do not store it, we do not review it, and we have no technical way to access it. The AI model runs locally using your device's graphics hardware. When you close the tab, the file and all intermediate data are released.

We do not collect, receive, transmit, or retain any of the following about your files: filenames, file contents, dimensions, durations, metadata, or derived features. This is a product promise, not just a policy.

We collect the minimum information needed to keep the site running, secure, and improving:

• Basic server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically records standard web traffic information such as IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, and request time. This is used for abuse prevention and troubleshooting, and is retained for a short period by the hosting provider.
• Google Analytics 4 (GA4). We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate visits (pages viewed, country, browser, device type, referring site, approximate session duration). GA4 sets first-party cookies (such as _ga and _ga_<container-id>) and processes a truncated form of your IP address to derive approximate location. Google acts as our data processor for this analytics data. We do not use GA4's Google Signals or cross-device features, and GA4 data is never joined to any file you process on the site. You can learn more at policies.google.com, or opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on.
• Anonymous error reports. If something crashes, we may receive an anonymous error report containing the error message, browser version, and graphics hardware capabilities. These reports are scrubbed of filenames, file contents, and any references to the files you work with.

FreeUpscaler itself uses your browser's local storage to remember small preferences, such as your light/dark theme. Your browser may also cache app and AI assets so repeat visits do not always need to download the same files again. This data stays on your device; we do not read it. You can clear it at any time via your browser's site-data settings.

The site also sets analytics cookies from Google Analytics 4 (described above) to measure aggregate traffic, and advertising partners (described below), including Google AdSense and the Meta Pixel, may set their own cookies. You can manage or block any of these through your browser's cookie controls, through the opt-out links below, or by using privacy extensions and tracking-prevention features built into modern browsers.

FreeUpscaler is supported by display advertising delivered through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites. Google and its partners may collect and process data such as your IP address, device identifiers, and browsing activity to show personalized advertising where permitted by law.

You can control personalized advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. More information about Google's use of data is available at policies.google.com.

We use the Meta Pixel (from Meta Platforms, Inc., which operates Facebook and Instagram) to measure how well our ads perform and to show ads for our own products to people who have already used this site. The pixel sets Meta cookies (such as _fbp) and may send Meta your IP address, browser and device information, and the pages you view or actions you take here, such as completing an upscale. Meta may combine this with data it already holds to match you to a Facebook or Instagram account for advertising.

We deliberately keep this to anonymous, behavior-based events only. We do notenable Meta's Automatic Advanced Matching, so we do not send Meta your email address, phone number, name, or any other personal details you might type on the site (for example, in the contact form). As with all of our analytics and advertising, no image or video you process is ever uploaded or shared — your files stay on your device.

Some of these events are also sent to Meta directly from our server (the Meta Conversions API), so measurement still works when a browser or extension blocks the in-page pixel. This server-side path shares your IP address, browser user-agent, and a first-party cookie identifier (_fbp, retained for up to 90 days) with Meta — but never your files, email, phone number, or name. It is not used for visitors in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland.

You can control the ads Meta shows you in your Facebook ad preferences, and opt out of interest-based advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. You can also block these cookies through your browser's controls or tracking-prevention features.

FreeUpscaler is free and needs no account. Separately, you can choose to join the waitlist for our paid Pro upscaler. That is entirely optional and changes nothing about the free tool.

If you join, we store your email address, the page and on-site moment you joined from, your country, your browser language, the site that referred you and any campaign tags on the link you arrived through, and the optional answers you give about what you upscale. We never store your files, your file names, or your IP address. A salted, irreversible hash of your IP is used purely to limit abuse of the signup form, and is deleted once it is more than 24 hours old; that clean-up runs periodically rather than at the exact moment the window closes.

The list is stored by Cloudflare. Confirmation and receipt emails are sent through Zoho ZeptoMail. If we later send occasional product updates, those go through Zoho Campaigns, and every message carries an unsubscribe link.

Sharing with Meta. When you join the waitlist from outside the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we send Meta an irreversible SHA-256 hash of your email address, so we can reach people like you with ads for the paid product. Your actual address is never sent. Be aware that a hashed email is pseudonymous rather than anonymous: a company that already holds your address can match it. We do not do this for visitors in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, and Meta's automatic advanced matching stays switched off across the entire site.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we email you a confirmation link first and hold nothing usable until you tap it.

When you unsubscribe, we replace your address with its hash immediately and keep only that record, so a later import cannot accidentally re-add you. Beyond that we keep entries for up to 24 months without engagement, and entries that are never confirmed for up to 60 days; those two clean-ups run periodically rather than at the exact moment the window closes. To access or delete your data at any time, email freeupscaler.app@gmail.com.

Because FreeUpscaler does not upload your files or create user accounts, we do not hold a personal profile or account record on you. The limited information processed about you (server logs, anonymous analytics, advertising identifiers set by Google and Meta) is described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, and the right to object to certain processing such as personalized advertising. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise any of these rights, email us at freeupscaler.app@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time frame.

FreeUpscaler is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
